Native, cross-platform, web app, or PWA?
Technology should be chosen based on who will use the app, on which devices, and what it needs to do, not on what’s trendy. This comparison helps you ask the right questions.
| App type | Advantages | Best if… |
|---|---|---|
| Cross-platform app | A single codebase for Android and iOS, with a look and feel close to a native app. | You want to be in both app stores with a reasonable budget and maintenance. |
| Native Android or iOS app | Full access to the phone’s features and the best possible performance. | The app depends on specific hardware, heavy processing, or a highly polished experience on a single platform. |
| Web app | Runs in the browser, with nothing to install, on desktop and mobile. | It’s used by internal teams or customers on a computer, like a management system or an admin dashboard. |
| PWA | Installs from the browser, can work offline, and sends notifications, without going through the app stores. | You need something app-like, at a lower cost and with instant updates. |
| MVP | A first version with the minimum features needed to validate the idea with real users. | You’re launching a new product and need to learn from the market before investing in everything. |
How we design and build your app
An app people uninstall on day two is useless, no matter how well it’s coded. That’s why design and testing matter as much as the code.
-
Clickable Figma prototype before writing any code, so you can test the idea with users and make changes without development costs.
-
Thumb-friendly UI/UX design: buttons within reach, readable text, and short flows.
-
Testing on real devices Android and iPhone, high-end and mid-range, which is what most people use.
-
Admin dashboard so your team can manage users, content, and orders without touching code.
-
Publishing on Google Play and the App Store, with listings, screenshots, and responses to each store’s reviews.
-
Analytics and crash reporting from day one, so you know how the app is used and can fix issues before anyone reports them.
-
Security and personal data: secure authentication, encrypted connections, and compliance with the privacy laws that apply to your business.
FAQ about app development
What people ask us most before starting an app.
Can’t find your question?
Message an advisor and we’ll get back to you during business hours (Bogotá time, UTC-5).
How much does it cost to build an app?
It depends on the screens, features, integrations, and whether it runs on one platform or two. That’s why we recommend starting with a prototype or an MVP: once the scope is clear, we give you a fixed price per stage.
Do I need an app, or is a website enough?
If your customers visit you only occasionally, a well-built website is usually enough. An app makes sense when people will use it often, or when you need notifications, phone features, or offline access.
Whose name is the app listed under in the stores?
We recommend setting up the Google Play and App Store developer accounts in your company’s name, so the app is always yours. We handle the publishing process.
What happens after the app is published?
App stores and operating systems change every year, so an app needs updates. We offer app maintenance and support to fix bugs, keep it compatible, and add features.
Can you take over an app another vendor started?
Yes, after reviewing the code and documentation. If the code is in good shape, we build on it; if not, we propose a phased modernization.
Services that complement your app
An app rarely lives on its own: it needs a system behind it, data to feed it, and a way to reach its users.
Have an idea for an app?
Tell one of our advisors about it, even if it’s still on a napkin. We’ll help you define what the first version should do and the right technology to build it with.
